Flourishing with the Divine Contemplative Day 1st October 2026

A day to arrive. To be still. To listen for God—together.
The New Zealand Association of Christian Spiritual Directors warmly welcomes anyone who would like to join us for a special contemplative open day exploring what it means to flourish with the Divine. Whether you are new to spiritual direction or simply curious, this is a gentle, unhurried invitation to slow down and pay attention.
The day begins with Taking Root. An invitation to arrive, settle, and be present. Rooted in Psalm 92’s image of the flourishing tree.
From there, choose one of three afternoon electives:
* Prayer as Poetry with Lori Brudvik Lindner. Held at Nelson Cathedral. A blend of contemplative spirituality and poetry reading, with prayer stations to explore.
* Kintsugi as a Spiritual Practice with Brad Wood. A hands-on workshop restoring broken pottery with gold, a picture of God’s healing work.
* Scripture, Presence & the Enneagram with Sue Cunningham. Exploring St Francis of Assisi’s question, “Who are you, O God, and who am I?”, through the Enneagram.
The afternoon moves into Group Spiritual Direction. A gentle introduction to listening for God together, in a small circle, using practices like Lectio Divina and prayerful silence.
We close with Bearing Fruit, a time to rest in what’s been finishing at 5.30pm.
It’s open to everyone.
No experience needed.
Lunch, morning and afternoon tea are included.
Cost $85.
